Rambo Series 1

The Beechworth Chaingang will be running the iconic Beechworth to Yackandandah Goldrush as part of the Rambo series. The date is the 23rd of May. This will be held along with assistance from the AWMTB. There will be some subtle changes to the course from previous years due to environmental concerns.

The course follows most of the traditional route with a cracker of a descent down Reserve Spur track and a second down Northern Fire Break. The course is set on fire roads, but you may find that it’s not as easy as it seems! At the moment distance is around 35 kilometres (subject to refinements). A bus will operate to shuttle riders back to Beechworth if you don’t want to ride back! More details HERE.

Volunteers / Marshals

In order to run this event we are going to need a number of helpers. There are a number of ways you can help us run this event:

We will need people to assist us marking out the course on the day before the event.

We will need marshals on the day. We need one or two people with a 4wd at road junctions and we will need a number of riders to give directions at major intersections along the route. Marshals are able to ride to their "spot" and may be offered free entry to a future Rambo event in the series. So marshals will get to ride course!

Pre Ride of Course

We will be riding the course a few time in the coming weeks. If you would like to come along and ride the course please contact us and we will let you know when one is planned.

Please let us know if you are able to assist us.

Wes.

Thursday Night ride report PDF Print E-mail

Howdy,

3 souls turned up for the thursday ride this week. Small in numbers but big on tyres! I was the odd one out riding a "traditional" mtb. Trav rode his 29ner single speed (ridgid) and Bjorn gave the crosser a pounding!

By the bottom of secret track Bjorn had bristers from his bars! He did well not to puncture.

The park is nice and dry and drifty so its damm good fun. We took off at 6.30 but swang past the car park while out on the loop just in case someone was running late.

More riders next week would be great.

You will have to create an account and log in to comment. Please , if you feel you have anything constructive to add to what is already an excellent discussion , please take the time to do so. This is very relevant to all of us !

Name change? PDF Print E-mail

Members, something for you to consider.

The Beechworth Chain Gang has grown from a collective of riders meeting at the bakery a couple times a week for a ride. We are now a club with riders from through out North East Victoria and managing MTB trails in Beechworth and hopefully soon in Wangaratta. Most mountain bike riders refer to our club as "the Chain Gang". See where I am going? Our next meeting is in February. My question is do we still need Beechworth in our name? Come to the meeting and discuss it!
