The new website represents a fresh start for the club. We're looking in a new direction , focussed on trail advocacy and tourism elements of mtbing. We have had new members elected to various positions on the committee as well as some long term members that continue to contribute. We would like to thank everyone that has given their time and effort in getting the club to where it is now.

Some well known trails in the area are noticeably absent from mention on this new website as the club cannot actively endorse riding in these areas. However the future of more new legal trails in Beechworth and surrounds is high on our agenda and the wheels are in motion in securing land with the assistance of Department of Sustainabilty & Environment (DSE), Parks Victoria and the Indigo Shire Council. The future is looking very bright in this regard , with some exciting new ideas in the works. More details to come when they are confirmed.

The Chaingang in the past has been associated with quite a few MTB race events. A private promoter, Finish Line Events, will continue to hold 6 hour and 12 hour XC races in the area with assistance from the club but they will not be strictly Chaingang hosted. We hope to continue the point to point Goldrush events from Beechworth to Yackandandah and Eldorado held annualy as well as the interclub series in conjunction with Albury , Wagga and Mt Beauty clubs.

We declined to host a Victorian DH series race this season but are looking at holding a ride day or small club race at club member Simon Davis' property at Yackandandah in the future. With Team Mt Beauty hosting a round on the Victorian DH series this season , North East Vic is well represented with a race at Big Hill , an eagerly anticipated event at a legendary venue.

We have been busy at the MTB park fixing erosion , closing sections of the XC loop and adding new ones. New trail signage is in the works with the aim of making it easier for first time visitors to navigate their way around the park as well as selecting trails to create a circuit of the park to suit all requirements and skill levels. We aim to provide trails for cross country and downhill to suit all levels including an easy loop around the park for novice riders.

The jumps track above the car park had a makeover recently with the assistance of Parks Vic and their bulldozer crew. It's proved to be very popular in its new layout which is basically the same course but with the jumps made safer and drainage issues addressed. It is suitable for riders of all ages and skill levels, we've even had XC riders choosing it as part of their lap of the park.

The freeride area is undergoing changes too. The step down gap jump has been closed and the biggest of the north shore ladders has been removed due to its poor condition. We are planning new freeride trails for the future that will utilise the natural terrain of the gorge area they are in currently , but please be aware that some of the trails there are closed. Check the trail before riding , it could save you from a nasty surprise.

We now have an event calendar on the site. This can be used to organise social rides or provide information on upcoming races , working bees and club meetings. Click on a highlighted date for details of the event. We have decided to go without a forum/message board mainly because they require constant de-spamming. We may add one in the future if it is felt necessary , but for the moment enquiries can be emailed to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it
